A show of unwillingness to mediate between Three Month Gallery and neighbouring art school students – on the part of their tutors – provokes a tour whereby various artists enter art schools unannounced and uninvited – offering students the opportunity to freely discuss work with a colleague.
Three trips take place in January and February 1999 to: Edinburgh College of Art and the University of Northumbria, Newcastle; Manchester Metropolitan University and Liverpool John Moores Art School; Central St. Martins, London and Kingston University. Visiting artists: Olöf Björnsdottir, Godfrey Burke, Damien Duffy, Chris Evans, Alex Frost, Kate Gray, Duncan Hamilton, Ewan Imrie, David Mackintosh, Tom O’Sullivan, Elizabeth Price, Andrew Small, Joanne Tatham, Sarah Tripp, Padraig Timoney, David Wilkinson and Caroline Woodley.
Two resultant conferences concerned with art education are held:
CCA, Glasgow. 27th February 1999. Introduction: Chris Evans, Duncan Hamilton and Padraig Timoney. Panel: Sarah Tripp, Pavel Büchler and Jacqueline Donachie. Chair: Elizabeth Price.
Tate Gallery, Liverpool. 20th March 1999. Panel: David Campbell, Charlotte Collingwood, David Smith, Padraig Timoney, David Wilkinson. Chair: Elizabeth Price. The conferences are transcribed in Free Tutorials (All Horizons Club, 1999).
